Oh. My. Goodness. I am just in love with this shoot! The light, the colors, the family…everything was perfect! And so much fun. I basically ran after them (and ahead of them) as they took a family walk, and then captured them playing in the backyard. This was one of those shoots that reminds me why I chose to dive into the photography world. I LOVE capturing these moments of families-
Just them.
Together.
Enjoying each other.
Of course, it was wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine (it never is with kiddos!) but so many moments of them just being and living the day to the fullest have been frozen in time for them to cherish always.
And I hope they do!
The evening of our scheduled family/maternity shoot, my sweet friend informed me she was having contractions fairly close together and might have to go in…sure enough, baby Clara arrived a few hours later! So we missed that session, but just a few days later, I was able to meet sweet Clara and take photos of the new family of 4! Amazing wouldn’t even begin to describe this family. They are a blessing to everyone they meet! You feel like you’ve known them for years after one conversation-they are open and welcoming, and so very generous. We are so thankful to have them in our lives and to celebrate their growing family alongside them!
My husband and I met this sweet couple in a Bradley birthing class. Yep, we had our babies all natural!! This sweet baby is their first, and she is now 6 months old! Another fun fact about this couple is that they are photographers as well. They mainly do weddings as a husband/wife team, but do some portrait work as well. It was so much fun to get to know their little family better and give them an opportunity to be on the other side of the camera. Enjoy some of my favorites from our session!
There are plenty of play photos to go around when you’re a mommy! I love capturing these sweet times of wonder before my babies are all grown up. At this moment in time, my sweet girl LOVES dancing with her daddy. I hope and pray this will always be. In this photo, he is singing “Singing in the Rain”, one of their favorite songs to dance to! Makes my heart smile.

Me and this mommy took Bradley birthing classes together and had our little ones just a month apart. Her and her husband are also photographers, so I was a bit intimidated when they wanted to book a family session with me! I must say, this is the most photogenic mommy I have ever captured! And there were quite a few images of her and her baby girl that I fell in love with. This is one of those images. Can you tell what this 6 month old is thinking?? Two seconds after the shot, she grabbed mommy’s hair! A favorite pastime at this age =) This photo feels me with the warmth of motherhood and makes me want to grab my guy and hold onto him forever. These are the moments we mommies never want to take for granted or forget. All too soon they are over.
When I found out the I Heart Faces Challenge for this month was Wind, I began praying for a windy day! I had done a couple of shoots where there were definitely high winds, but I’ve never intentionally used the wind during a photo session. So I thought this would be a wonderful opportunity to be intentional and have fun as a family! Thankfully, the forecast prediction for this past weekend included wind! This was one of my top three photos-it was hard choice! I had so much fun with these photos, and I’m thankful for I Heart Faces for inspiring me!

Meet the Anderson family! This shoot is special to me. Over two years ago, I met this sweet little boy for the first time. It was his first day of preschool, and my first job after graduating college. He was 2 years old and very, very sad. He cried all day, every day for quite some time. I had 8 two year olds to teach and care for each day, but I became his one-on-one for every activity, lesson, meal, and nap time. Somehow, me coercing him into things he did NOT want to do formed a bond between us. We became the best of friends! After one year at the preschool, my husband and I announced we would be moving to Louisville. It was a very hard move. We would be far from family and friends, and I would leave all my little ones behind. This little boy had grown so much over that year, and he loved me more than I deserved. He was a ray of sunshine on every difficult day I had. He was always happy to see me and ready to give me hugs and kisses. I cried and cried after we said goodbye. Since we moved, we were only able to visit them a couple of times. The last time we had seen them, Tessa was just 8 weeks old! Now she is about 2, the same age he was when we met for the first time.
When we found out we would be able to spend a week in the area, I knew I wanted to set aside some time to see them again. When his mom asked if they could do a photo shoot, I was thrilled! I was also so nervous. Would he still remember me? Would he still like me? He was 4 years old now! What kinds of things would he like to talk about? I now wish I hadn’t been so nervous! I was actually shy when we met at a little cafe for dinner before the shoot, mostly because of the fear that he didn’t know me anymore. But Aaron was just as sweet as ever. He was also very lively and goofy! It melted my heart to see him with Tessa! She thought the world of him as he hugged her and held her hand. She still remembers who he is a couple of weeks later! I think he made a lasting impression.
They decided to do the shoot at John Brown University-this is where Liz and Aaron first met! We took a walk down memory lane as they shared with us some of their special moments from their time there. I love the photos I captured of this sweet family, and I hope you do as well! All because two people fell in love =)
